Back to school at The Mary Lou Zeek Gallery means reading, writing, arithmetic and ART! Letters and Lunchboxes is a show communicating the importance of arts education and creativity. Artists Anne Furr and Ann Lahr have produced news works from reclaimed materials and ceramics in a collaborative undertaking to demonstrate the value of colors, textures, and patterns while highlighting the significance of art as an essential element within the school system.

Face The Public
For the sixth consecutive year the Mary Lou Zeek Gallery will feature the collaborative show during the month of October. Twelve Oregon artists will each paint for a day at the Mary Lou Zeek Gallery to recreate Frida Kahlo’s Self-Portrait dedicated to Dr. Eloesser. Each artist will paint in their own style and with their own medium. The finished piece will be sold and the proceeds put into an Artists-in-Need-Fund. In addition, the Mary Lou Zeek Gallery will feature a collaborative showing of paintings by each of the twelve artists during the month of October.

Elizabeth Bauman: Finding the Story Within
Please join us for an opening reception and an “informal conversation” with Elizabeth Bauman
on October 14th, 5-7 pm at Gallery 2

“This series of paintings began a new exploration of paint and the narrative I found within the paint. Rather than starting with an idea of what I wanted to paint, I abstractly applied rich oil colors to the canvas or board. By exploring the shapes and patterns in the abstract, I let go of all preconceived ideas of what the painting should be. The stories I find come from the subconscious, and sometimes conscious, and are saying something about what I see around me and also what I felt about them.”

We have extended our gallery to a second space not far from our downtown location. Gallery 2 showcases stunning paintings in a quiet setting for those that need that extra attention. We invite you to call to make an appointment so we may offer suggestions, discuss proposals and arrange to bring artwork to your home or business. Or, visit our downtown location to inquire about our brochure that describes our “in house visits” and convenient ways to obtain art.
